TEHRAN, Jun. 13 (MNA) – A delegation of Mexican senators will pay a visit to Tehran on Sunday to hold talks with Iranian lawmakers and officials on bilateral ties.

The upcoming visit is at the invitation of chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iranian Parliament, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, IRNA reported.

Chairwoman of the Mexican Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee Gabriela Cuevas Barrón will head the delegation which is scheduled to hold talks on Tehran-Mexico City bilateral ties and parliamentary relations during the six-day stay in Iran.

In December 2014, an Iranian parliamentary delegation, led by Boroujerdi, traveled to Mexico in the first official visit to the North American nation in 35 years.

Promotion of ties with Latin American countries has been among the top priorities of the Islamic Republic's foreign policy over the past few years.

In another visit to Tehran by Mexican high-ranking officials, Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare Jesús Alfonso Navarrete Prida will visit Iran within next two month to learn more about Iran’s experiences in different fields.

Prida and his Iranian counterpart Ali Rabiee had a meeting on the sidelines of the 104th session of the International Labor Conference and explored areas of cooperation between the two countres.

Rabiee voiced Iran’s readiness to offer its experiences in the area of social insurances and welfare to Mexico.

Iran and Mexico could expand cooperation in such areas as social support programs, economic contributions, labor laws and employment, the ministers stressed.
